Meetings

district meetings

District Meeting is where clubs from each of the 5 districts of Founder Region come together to hear messages and presentation from the Founder Region Board on topics of the four pillars: Membership, Program, Public Awareness,  and Service. The District Director leads the meeting of her clubs in the district in which she represents. We are in District IV which encompasses clubs from Crescent City to Ukiah, and   over to the Mendocino Coast.

District IV consists of 10 clubs: Arcata, Crescent City, Eel River Valley, Eureka, Fort Bragg, Humboldt Bay,  Noyo Sunrise, The Redwoods, Ukiah & Willits.

founder region conference

Founder Region Conference is held each year on the first weekend in May (unless it's on  Mother's Day).  Members from all over Founder Region come together to discuss and vote on business of the region, raise money for SIA programs, raise money for Founder Region Fellowship, vote on new region leadership, and give region level awards.
  • Friday is dedicated to Legislative Advocacy issues such as  domestic violence, human trafficking, pay equity and other social issues facing women and girls.
  •  Friday Night is our Fellowship Program where we award grants to women in their last year of their doctoral thesis,  whose research in the fields of education, public health, engineering, and medicine (to name a few) will have a profound impact on our future.
  • The business of the region is discussed on Saturday as well as presentations from official visitors from our federation.
  • Saturday Night is a time for installations of the new Founder Region and Fellowship boards (on even years) and time to celebrate.
  • On Sunday Morning we honor our members who we have lost during the previous year.
  • Sunday Brunch is the pinnacle of this 3 day conference when we award thousands of dollars to region level recipients of the Ruby Award, Live Your Dream Award, and the Violet Richardson Award.

leadership training

Each year, the Founder Region Board of Directors offers a "Leadership Training" for all members. Leadership Training for District V occurs in Fortuna near the end of June. Included with the training is a "Leadership Handbook." This is a resource to be used by all club officers, committee members, and members. It provides a "one-stop shop" handbook of information to assist club members in carrying out their responsibilities - or just more information to help improve the club experience with knowledge about Soroptimist.

president's roundtable

Presidents' Roundtables are held in August, November and February by the District Director. Presidents and other club officers may attend and learn about  international, federation, region and district programs, events  and leadership. Contact the current District V Director for dates & locations.
